Open enrollment began for Medicare beneficiaries in Alabama on Monday.
This is a time when Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their health insurance plan.
There were some federal cuts in Medicaid that went into affect August 1 that will impact Medicare beneficiaries, so the Alabama Department of Senior Services is offering free plan comparisons.
It you have questions or need assistance with your plan, call 1-800-AGE-LINE or contact your area's council of governments. There are councils in Huntsville, Decatur, and Muscle Shoals.
Open enrollment runs October 15 through December 7.
