HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Cummings Research Park in Huntsville is celebrating a milestone.
This year marks 50 years it has been a part of the community.
Cummings Research was established in 1962. It was developed to attract high tech industries.
Today, it's the second largest research park in the U.S. and the fourth largest in the world.
More than 300 companies are part of the park, and it employees over 25,000 people.
"It's all about celebrating how important Cummings Research Park is to this community. It's an extremely vital piece of what we do. It makes us unique," said Mike Brazier with the Chamber of Commerce.
WAFF 48 News and the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County will host a free outdoor concert Monday evening. It'll take place at Bridge Street Town Centre.
