COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A man was set to go to trial in October for a murder that was once was a cold case in Colbert County, but the judge granted a continuance.
Jury selection in the Brian Martin case was supposed to begin Monday morning, but the trial was pushed back to January.
Martin is accused of shooting his father, Donice Scott, at his home in May of 2011.
Martin was charged with murder in August.
He claimed the shooting was self defense.
Martin told investigators that he went to his father's house to get money, and his father came at him with a sword.
