TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -
A Colbert County man pleaded guilty to multiple sodomy charges Wednesday.
34-year-old Michael Scott Meadows of Tuscumbia pleaded guilty to first-degree sodomy, second-degree sodomy, sexual abuse of a child under 12 and production of obscene material.
Meadows began sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in 2008, and investigators said he continued until 2011.
Officials said they learned about the abuse when the victim told a friend, and the information was then passed on to the girl's parents who contacted police.
Meadows was arrested in January.
Meadows admittance of guilt was part of a plea deal which carries with it a possible 20 year sentence.
The victim's family agreed to the plea deal so the child would not have to be part of the trial.
