HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
An overnight wreck near Monte Sano sent a man to the hospital in serious condition.
It happened on Governors Drive between Scenic Overlook and Monte Sano Boulevard just before 2 a.m. Friday.
Police said the man was driving a silver Hyundai Sonata, heading west down the mountain when he lost control and crashed. The car flipped onto its side and the driver was trapped inside.
Crews worked for about 30 minutes to free him from the vehicle.
Westbound lanes were blocked for about an hour but have since cleared.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. The man's name has not been released.
