WALKER COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
Walker County rescue crews say a family trapped in a submerged vehicle was rescued by a man who left before he could be thanked.
The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. off Highway 5 in Walker County. A family from Haleyville consisting of a 10-year-old girl, her mother and grandmother, somehow lost control of their vehicle and ended up in a swamp near Duncan Road.
Crews at the scene say a man saw the accident and lifted a tree off of the back of the vehicle to let the family escape. The 10-year-old and the mother were taken to Walker County Baptist Medical Center minor injuries. The grandmother was uninjured.
The man who helped save the family left after the family was in the care of rescue crews.
