ARAB, AL (WAFF) -

The city of Arab now has a new mayor-elect.

Former City Councilman Bob Joslin has defeated former Councilwoman Dianne Prestridge by a vote count of 1184 to 784.

Joslin said he's looking forward to the job.

Cheers and shouts of victory for those at the Joslin camp Tuesday night where his supporters gathered to hear the results.

The former two term councilman won by some four hundred votes to become the city of Arab's next mayor.

Joslin said he just wanted to meet the people of Arab one on one, let them meet him, and let them know he wanted to work for them.

Meanwhile, it was a tough loss for Prestridge who fought a tough campaign herself.

"Oh man, I'm just overwhelmed by the amount of support from Arab people.  I'm elated beyond words.  I didn't think it would be that bad but, man, they showed me some tremendous support.  I really appreciate it, I really do," said Joslin.

"I wouldn't have made it through it without them and I just wanted to thank everybody that voted.  I wish Mr. Joslin the very best for the next four years," said Prestridge.

Joslin said he's looking forward to working with outgoing Mayor Gary Beam for a smooth transition.
