HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A late evening wreck sent at least one person to the hospital.

The crash happened Tuesday evening on Bob Wallace Avenue near Triana Boulevard.

Police said a black truck got into the wrong lane and slammed into a red truck.

The driver of a motorcycle jumped off his bike just before it slid underneath the red truck.

"It was the only thing I knew to do. If I would have locked my brakes up, it would have been a lot worse if I would have tried to stay on my bike, so I proceeded to tuck and roll as they smashed into each other," said Nicholas Hyatt.

Hyatt suffered bruises to his arm and back.

Frank Ogle of the red truck was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Family members said he suffered two broken legs and damage to the spleen but is expected to be ok.

The driver of the black truck, William Benton Latham, 35, was arrested and charged with second degree assault and driving under the influence.

The investigation is ongoing.
