The Huntsville Havoc are heading to Nashville... at least for one game.
The Southern Professional Hockey League announced Tuesday that the Havoc would square off against their rivals - the Knoxville Ice Bears - at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Saturday, October 20th.
The preseason game is designed to give both teams, and the league itself, exposure to new fans who are feeling frustrated by the NHL lockout.
The game is a special event for Predators season ticket holders. In addition, the Predators will be offering free admission to all current Knoxville and Huntsville season ticket holders who wish to attend the game. All Havoc season ticket holders can come by the Havoc office starting on Monday, October 15 to pick up their voucher for the game.
The Havoc will also be trying to put a bus or buses together for fans to travel up to the game. That information should be finalized by next Monday as well.
"On behalf of the SPHL, I would like to thank the Nashville Predators for extending the invitation to Knoxville and Huntsville to play for their season ticket holders, as well as inviting the loyal season ticket holders from both teams," said SPHL President Jim Combs in a prepared release. "I would especially like to recognize Ice Bears President Mike Murray, who has worked diligently behind the scenes to make this game happen. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our players to play in an NHL setting."
