VALLEY HEAD, AL (WAFF) -

Students at a school in Valley Head attended a program on Friday to discourage bullying.

Students chose to bring in this program. They wanted to tackle a problem this year.

While both are big concerns, students chose to tackle anti-bullying over drinking and driving.

A program was held Friday morning that included skits by theater members and an anti-bullying video.

Students also conducted a survey and read the results to the students.

Of 185 surveys returned, approximately 35 percent of students there admitted they had been bullied. Of those, 9 percent said it was on a daily basis.

They listed such things as teasing, name calling, hitting, kicking, pushing, and even using the internet and face book as a means to bully others.

One student hopes the seminar will make students think twice.

"I hope everybody just stops bullying and gets along.  Have respect for each other," said student organizer, Hayley Crider.

When it was all over, students signed their name on a poster pledging to fight bullying when they see it.
