SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) -
One man is behind bars after a woman was robbed and stabbed in Colbert County.
Labarags Madden of Leighton was arrested and charged with robbery, assault and domestic violence.
Investigators said around 7:45 p.m. Thursday the victim gave Madden a ride home in the area of 21st Street in Sheffield.. Officials said he changed his destination and tried to get her to pull down a gravel road. When she refused, he pulled out a knife and demanded money.
When she said she didn't have any, he began stabbing her.
Police said the woman was able to get away when she said she had a gun and reached for it under the seat. Madden fled the scene at that point,
The victim was taken to Helen Keller Hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown.
Madden remains in the Colbert County Jail without bond.
