HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Saturn V rocket has a pink glow.

Lite 96.9 teamed up with the Space and Rocket Center and Huntsville Hospital to light up the rocket to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Tuesday night's event kicked off the Lite It Up Pink campaign this week.

The goal is to raise money for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

"They're purchasing detection equipment at Huntsville Hospital because that is the key to try and stop breast cancer. Early detection is the key, so the money that we raise is going to go to purchase that technology for the hospital," said Abby Kay with Lite It Up Pink.

Residents across the Valley are encouraged to light up their porch pink to help raise money and awareness.
