It was just a typical Monday morning for the Johnson family.  The kids had their lunch money and were getting ready to get on the bus to head to school.  That's when things took a terrifying turn.

Julie Johnson, 7 and in 2nd grade, was trying to board the bus with her brother when she was suddenly pinned between the bus and its crossing gate.

"It all just happened so fast," said Julie's father, John Johnson.  "The driver just took off."

Johnson said his daughter held on to the gate for 200 feet before she let go and started to crawl.

"The bus ran over her leg," he said.  "I got in my car and chased the driver down about a mile and a half down the road, and I just asked him what he was doing; he just ran over my daughter."

Julie's leg is bruised after the incident, but not broken.

"The doctors said she had a bunch of angels with her," he said.  "It ran over her leg but didn't break any of her bones. It just scraped her up and bruised her up pretty good and that's about it."

Despite the incident, Johnson said he doesn't have any hard feelings towards the driver but hopes this accident will serve as a lesson to the school system.

"The driver has some health problems, so I am not mad at him.  With him having the health problems that he has, he doesn't need to be driving a school bus," said Johnson.

Johnson kept his daughter out of school Tuesday.  The accident has left her afraid to get on the bus.

He said school officials told him they are investigating the incident and will get back to him.
