LACEY'S SPRING, AL (WAFF) -
Firefighters are working to keep a house fire in Lacey's Springs from spreading to neighboring woods.
A neighbor called in a house fire on Dwight Street around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday after they saw flames shooting from the home.
When firefighters arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Volunteers from Lacey's Spring, Talucah and Fluorette responded to the scene, along with HEMSI.
One woman living in the home was not injured, but will be displaced. Her home was completely destroyed.
The house is in the woods, located on top of a hill, making it difficult for crews to reach. They had to shuttle water to the house from a half mile away from the scene.
Crews said it will take several hours to put out the fire completely. They are working to stop it from spreading into a forest fire.
