HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Alabama Republican Party has unveiled a presidential campaign push they're calling "Battleground Patriots."
Congressman Mo Brooks will lead one of these groups into key swing states in the days before the November 6th presidential election to help campaign for Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney.
Patriots will be deployed to the three southern states that voted for President Obama in 2008 - Florida, North Carolina and Virginia - plus Ohio. No Republican has been elected president without carrying Ohio.
Brooks will lead a group that will leave Huntsville October 24th to campaign in Dayton, Ohio. Similar efforts involving Republicans from other parts of the state are planned for Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jacksonville, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina.
A party spokeswoman says about 200 people have already signed up for the campaign events.
Alabama Democrats are also branching out to help President Obama's campaign. Party volunteers are working to help the President win in Florida.
