LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Deputies arrested one of the four inmates who escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center over the weekend.
Sheriff's deputies said 28-year-old Ricky Dewayne Lawson, 27-year-old Wesley Gibson, 23-year-old Damien Lee Nix and 20-year-old Robert Lee Brown escaped sometime around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Officials said the men escaped though the ventilation systems that are in the cells.
U.S. Marshals located Damien Lee Nix in Florence just after 10 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators took 52-year-old Earnest Earl Lawson in custody on Sunday. The Lauderdale County Sheriff said Lawson picked up his son and two other inmates in the parking lot at the the detention center Saturday night; brought them home, gave them money and the guys left.
"He was waiting on them; his daddy told us that he called and told him he was bonding out at 12 o'clock but when you have 3 people jumping the fence and coming straight to the truck, he knew better," said Sheriff Ronnie Willis.
Deputies said the men were not violent offenders, and most of the sentences were for burglary and theft related crimes.
