Crews battled an early morning house fire in Madison County Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the home at 169 Brooks Church Road just before 4 a.m.

Officials said the back of the house sustained heavy smoke damage. The homeowner was displaced and Red Cross responded to assist the man.

No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal is working to determine the cause of the fire.
