Morgan Co. deputies arrest 4 after meth bust

Morgan County deputies arrested four people on drug charges during a child welfare check.

Deputies were sent to a home on Kirby Bridge Road in Danville for a welfare check after someone called and reported drug usage.

When they arrived at the home they found several one pot meth labs, finished meth, a jar filled with syringes, materials to make meth and a sawed off shotgun.

Officials said one of the meth labs had burned a hole through the bottom of the container and gas was coming out.

Deputies arrested 29-year-old Charles Blakenship, 20-year-old Cody Davis, 22-year-old Amanda Thurman and 29-year-old Haley Davis were arrested.

Officials said Thurman was passed out when they arrived and there were several syringes around her.

Deputies said Cody Davis was found hiding in the woods and when they apprehended him, he had syringes in his pocket and they had to cut his pants open to get them out.

"Two of the suspects had just gotten out of jail from Lawrence County about two weeks ago and are out on bond currently for unlawful manufacturing, and the female, the mother of the 18-month old, is also pregnant," said Sheriff Ann Franklin.

The child was not there at the time of the arrest.

All four had to be decontaminated before they were taken to jail. Deputies said their old clothes were removed and destroyed and the four were hosed down and put in new clothes.

Blakenship and Cody Davis were charged with unlawful manufacture of controlled substance and unlawful possession of a short barrel shotgun.

Thurman and Haley Davis were charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.

Deputies said child endangerment charges are pending Haley Davis.
