KILLEN, AL (WAFF) -
Killen Police are looking for a man they say is responsible for cashing more than $7,000 worth of bad checks.
Police said 20-year-old Montez Tucker has cashed several bad checks at banks and businesses across the Shoals.
Police said Tucker uses a fake account number and attaches it to a check from a company in the Shoals.
The checks have been cashed for amounts between $300 and $500.
Investigators said he cashed three checks at the same bank but was caught when he attempted to cash a fourth.
"When he presented this fourth check, it was recognized because by this time the first three that he had presented to the same bank had come back as a fraudulent account. They were aware of that, they delayed him. At that time they did call law enforcement. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get there in time to catch him at the bank," said Lt. Bryan Hammond with Killen Police.
If you have any information on where Tucker may be, call Killen Police immediately.
