NASA announced new Stennis leader - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - NASA Administrator Charles Bolden has named Dr. Richard J. Gilbrech as director of the Stennis Space Center in Hancock County.

Gilbrech, who currently serves as that center's deputy director, replaces Patrick Scheuermann, who will become director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Gilbrech has served as Stennis' deputy director since 2010. He began his NASA career in 1991 at Stennis in the area of propulsion test technology.

Scheuermann previously served as Stennis' deputy director and associate director, besides working as chief operating officer of NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. He joined NASA in 1988 as a propulsion test engineer.
