The Alabama unemployment rate
is up for the fourth month in a row.
The Alabama Department of
Industrial Relations reported an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent for the month
of August, up from July's 8.3 percent.
The number is below the
August 2011 rate of 9.1 percent.
However, 63 of 67 counties
reported lower or the same unemployment numbers,
Counties with the lowest
unemployment included Shelby at 5.8 percent, Coffee at 7.1 percent, Blount at
7. 2 percent, Limestone at 7.2 percent and Madison at 7.2 percent.
Counties with the highest unemployment included Wilcox with
19.2 percent, Bullock with 17.1 percent and Dallas with 16.6 percent.
