MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Madison County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on attempted murder charges, and his alleged accomplice turned himself in on Thursday.

Officials said Nicholas White and his accomplice, Brandon Grays of Triana, broke into a Madison home and robbed and assaulted a woman and her 4-year-old son.

"When I heard about it, I was just wondering what happened to make them kick her door down and just beat her up," said James Jones.

He lives two doors down from where the attack happened.

"I've never heard of anything like that happening in the 27 years I've lived here," he said.

White was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, first degree burglary, first degree robbery, first degree assault, and theft of property.

Grays apparently turned himself in on Thursday.

White and Grays are in the Madison County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
