HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville City school leaders want to hear from parents regarding the new school issued computers.
Over the next few weeks, they are having meetings to fix and address any problems since the digital switch nearly one month ago.
"Some of the issues we've had are students being able to sign in correctly and resetting their passwords on the laptops and net books," said I.T. Manager Sandra Simmons. "We've had some come in broken already. So in the I. T. department we are responsible for bringing them back in checking them out and giving them back to the students again."
Over the past few weeks parents have voiced their various computer problems and if it's technical, people like Simmons are standing by to fix them.
Parents like Ann Tucker said she's glad that different people are standing by to help parents. She has three kids in the Huntsville City school system. Tucker said she wants to be able to help her kids with their homework and see their grades but she can't.
"From my stand point I mean there are multiple issues and there are good sides and bad sides and a huge learning curve for everybody," she said. "Trying to get on a text book and getting an error message or trying to enter things into a math problem and it spits you out; those are troublesome and need to be fixed."
Simmons said she hopes as time goes on, everyone will be on the same page and the problems will slowly go away.
"Some of it is just tweaking the system in order to make it more accessible and usable," she said.
