BOAZ, AL (WAFF) -
School Resource Officers in Boaz are taking bullying very seriously this year. They are introducing students to an anti-bullying program.
Thomas Underwood talked to incoming freshmen Tuesday morning at Boaz High School about the "Stand For The Silent" program.
Underwood is hoping to change the culture and let kids know it's not ok to bully people. He said it takes everyone to change the bully culture.
"Lots of people are in the program and now it's kind of popular to be against bullying and i think people will really open their eyes and look and be like wow that's so dumb," said Jamie Watkins, student.
Underwood said they've also set up boxes in school where students can report bullying incidents anonymously.
