MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop and track east, northeast across North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Rainfall totals could exceed three inches in some areas before the rain comes to an end by the late morning hours on Tuesday.
A flash flood watch is in effect as excess rainfall could lead to some street flooding. Woodward Avenue in Muscle Shoals is under several feet of water. Department of Transportation crews have traffic down to one late on Woodward Avenue.
We also received a report of a car stuck in flood waters on Chisholm Road in Florence. If you see standing water, do not drive through it.
Colder weather will move in Tuesday evening behind a cold front. The front will bring an end to the rain but will also bring us the coolest morning low temperatures since April. Morning lows on Wednesday will be in the lower to middle 40s.
To keep up with severe weather warnings and other weather alerts, download the WAFF 48 Storm Team weather app or sign up for text alerts. You will receive up to 5 msgs/day. Text HELP for help. Text STOP to stop. Msg&data rates may apply.
