HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Governor Bentley said he's optimistic Alabama voters will approve a constitutional amendment on the ballot Tuesday.
The amendment is the only item on the ballot in the special election. The amendment is to take $437-million out of a state trust fund to prevent cutbacks in state services.
Bentley said the proposal is supported by several different groups, but some lawmakers and tea party groups are opposed to the proposal.
Opponents said balancing the state's General Fund budget by
"raiding" the trust fund will not solve the state's financial problems.
