HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Two people were killed and another injured in a three-vehicle wreck on North Memorial Parkway Thursday.
Investigators said the wreck happened just before 2:30 p.m. when a 2003 Lexus driven by 74-year-old Willie Lightford traveling southbound on the parkway crossed the median into the northbound lanes.
The car struck 61-year-old Avis Certain's 1999 Ford Taurus causing her to lose control.
The Taurus crossed into northbound traffic and struck a 1990 Nissan Sentra driven by 74-year-old Samuel Pride, causing the Nissan to flip. Pride died on the scene.
Certain's passenger. 37-year-old John Certain was partially ejected. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital where he later died.
Avis Certain was rushed to Huntsville Hospital. Lightford was not injured.
Northbound lanes of the parkway at Winchester Road were blocked as crews worked to clean up the scene. Both northbound lanes were blocked and traffic was diverted to Industrial Drive and Meridian Street, while the southbound lanes remained open.
Huntsville Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
