NASHVILLE, TN (AP) -
Gillian Welch won entertainer of the year and Music City took center stage at the Americana Honors & Awards.
The Civil Wars won duo/group of the year and The Alabama Shakes took new/emerging artist. The north Alabama rockers were the only non-Nashville act to win Wednesday night at Ryman Auditorium, though their breakthrough album "Boys and Girls" was recorded here.
Lead nominee and recent Nashville emigre Jason Isbell won song of the year for "Alabama Pines," producers Tamara Saviano and Shawn Camp won album of the year for "This One's For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark" and Welch's partner Dave Rawlings broke Buddy Miller's stranglehold on the instrumentalist of the year award.
Bonnie Raitt, Booker T. Jones and Richard Thompson were honored with lifetime achievement awards.
