HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A series of events to raise awareness about breast cancer kicks off Wednesday.

The mission for The Painted Bra Art Project is to increase awareness about breast cancer and create a nurturing support system with the help of artists around the world, according to their website.

Artists paint "brasterpieces" and auction them online. Participation isn't limited to professional artists, either. Here are some chances for you to show your painting skills and support cancer patients and survivors at the same time:

  • My Spirited Art Brasterpiece painting party - Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m.
My Spirited Art on Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville will provide everything you need to create your very own Brasterpiece.
  • Dogs, hot dogs and painted bras at Earth Fare Huntsville - Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Earth Fare hosts this event "Save a Pear." Make a contribution and receive a free pear.
  • Bras and Brews for Breast Cancer - Thursday, October 4 at 6 p.m.
Blue Pants Brewery in Madison hosts a fun painting contest with prizes for the winner. Music, Dixie Derby Girls and more fun!
  • Brasterpiece exhibit at Lowe Mill - Friday, October 26 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
This is the "main event." All of the bras will be on display.
