CULLMAN, AL (WAFF) -
A group of skydivers in Alabama attempted to break a state record Saturday.
Forty-five skydivers in Cullman suited up to break the record for most skydivers in a free-fall, but cloudy conditions delayed the jump.
The group only had 45 seconds to create the formation in mid-air before they separated and deployed their parachutes.
Divers said the jump takes many hours of practice and preparations to make it a success.
"Once I did the first jump I actually realized there was a sport behind it and being me, someone was always involved in sports, I've just gravitated towards all the different disciplines like formation sky diving," said skydiver Paul Russo.
"I really enjoy it. It's just the challenge of making the formations and improving," said skydiver Alison Bawden.
Skydivers will make a second attempt to break the record Sunday.
