FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Another restaurant in the Shoals is shutting its doors.
Crocodile Ed's is the second Florence restaurant this week to announce its closing.
The general manager said it's the economy that's forcing them to close.
The restaurant has tried everything to boost sales - from bringing in live music, opening for lunch, and now just opening for dinner - but sales are struggling.
The GM said the restaurant will serve their last customers on Saturday, September 15.
They said although the restaurant will be closed, they are keeping their fish market open, which is located in the same building.
The restaurant did release this statement:
"Unfortunately, the lingering effects of a poor economy create significant challenges to independent restaurants and small business operators."
Owner of Crocodile Ed's, Ed Robbins, released this statement:
"We're very grateful to our loyal customer base that has supported local business and helped establish the Crocodile Ed's brand."
Staff at Demo's were seen packing up the restaurant on Monday.
The owners decided to shut down permanently after they closed on Sunday night.
Just a few months ago, O'Charley's shut down.
All three of these restaurants were located on Cox Creek Parkway in Florence.
