MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

An investigation into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Madison found that police officers followed the law when they used deadly force.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department spent more than a month thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding Deborah Day's shooting death.

Police shot and killed Day after she threatened to shoot her neighbors, refused to put her gun down, and then pointed it at officers.

Sheriff's deputies reviewed physical and video evidence along with witness accounts before releasing the findings of the investigation.

The complete investigation report has now been turned over to the District Attorney's office.
