HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A man trying to steal beer from a beer truck crashed head-on into oncoming traffic, according to police.
The man tried to steal several cases of beer from a beer truck making a delivery to a convenience store. An employee of the store saw what was happening and tried to stop the theft.
Witnesses said that's when the driver took off, ran a stop sign, and pulled out onto Jordan Lane. He collided head-on with another truck near Oakwood Road. The driver of that truck was alert and talking when rescue crews arrived on scene.
The suspect had to be taken out of his vehicle on a backboard and was transported to the hospital. It's unknown what charges he will face once he's released from the hospital.
Only one lane of traffic was open as crews worked the scene.
HEMSI transported the suspect to the hospital.
