AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -
Recently filed indictments against alleged Auburn shooter Desmonte Leonard reveal two additional victims not previously named in charges.
Alleged Auburn mass shooter Desmonte Leonard was indicted by a Lee County Grand Jury on August 27, according to court documents filed Tuesday.
Leonard has been charged with one count of capital murder - two or more persons, for his alleged role in the shooting deaths of Demario Pitts, Ladarious Phillips, and Edward Christian at the University Heights Apartment Complex on the night of June 9.
The grand jury also indicted Leonard on two counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing shots at two previously unnamed victims - Deangelo Benton and Turquorius Vines. During Leonard's first court hearing, a witness stated that it was Deangelo Benton, a suspended Auburn football player, who threatened to kill Leonard before the first punches were thrown. Vines told members of the media shortly after the incident that a fight over a woman had spurred the violence.
In addition, Leonard faces charges of first degree assault connected to victim John Robertson who is recovering after being shot in the head, and two charges of second degree assault that are consistent with allegations of injures received by Xavior Moss and Eric Mack.
An arraignment date for Leonard has been set for September 27 in Lee County.
