LIONS REMAIN UNRANKED DESPITE OPENING WIN

WACO, Texas -- Despite opening the season with a hard-fought 31-30 road win against Miles College at Legion Field, the University of North Alabama football team remains unranked in this week's American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II poll.

UNA opened this 2012 unranked for the first time since 2005.

UNA was nationally ranked in 89 of the 90 Division II polls from 2005-11, falling out of the Top 25 only once on Nov. 15, 2010. The Lions closed their 2011 season with a 9-3 record and a No. 14 national ranking.

The Lions received 38 points in the voting but remained outside the Top 25.

UNA hosts Harding Saturday at 6 p.m. at Braly Stadium in the Lions' 2012 home opener.
