HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police investigators are processing evidence, trying to catch crooks who hit area businesses over the weekend.

Officers are investigating several break-ins and armed robberies, including one at Best Western on Torok Circle.

Officers responded to a violent robbery at the hotel Sunday evening around 6:30. Investigators say a man wearing a hoodie jumped over the counter and assaulted a female clerk. The robber ran away with some cash.

About two hours later, officers responded to another robbery at a Jet Pep gas station on South Memorial Parkway near Hobbs Island Road.

Police say a man with a covered face held up the clerk at gunpoint, demanded cash, then ran away. No one was hurt in that robbery.

In another incident early Saturday morning, police say someone broke into Rolling Hills Elementary School. It's unclear what items the burglar took, if any. Officers are looking through surveillance video for any clues.

About an hour later, police responded to an alarm at Complete Dental on South Parkway near Byrd Springs Road. Officers found a destroyed window and some miscellaneous items were stolen.
