HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police and other agencies worked a wreck with entrapment and fatality on I-565 eastbound near the Glenn Hearn Boulevard exit.
Police say the driver of an SUV traveling westbound crossed the center median and hit a car traveling the opposite direction head-on.
The man driving the car died at the scene. He was transporting blood from Georgia to Huntsville and Crestwood hospitals for the Red Cross.
The two people in the SUV were taken to Huntsville Hospital with injuries but are expected to be alright.
The names of the victims have not been released. Investigators are looking into what caused the wreck.
Authorities asked motorists to avoid the area if possible. Traffic was backed up for about a mile while crews cleaned up the scene.
