DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Investigators in DeKalb County are processing evidence and following every lead trying to find the man who shot two discount store employees Friday night.

Family members of the men shot said they feel law enforcement is doing the best job they can and hope the shooter is caught.

The shooting happened last Friday evening around 9 p.m. when a man walked up to the door of Fred's department store.

He shot through the glass door and hit two employees.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said they've interviewed and ruled out approximately 11 persons of interest thus far.

He said they continue to follow leads and get leads from the public.

He added they're going over additional surveillance video for more clues and that forensic evidence is being analyzed.

Rainsville Chief Charles Centers said he's optimistic about their chances of being able to catch the person responsible.

Family members said Josh Nance was being transported to Atlanta on Thursday where he will undergo therapy for the next couple of months.

Matthew Whitt is also recovering.

Harris said anyone with information about this crime should contact the Rainsville Police Department or the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.

Fundraising efforts are underway in Rainsville to help the two men.

A man who owns The Barter Post just down the road is working with the families on fundraising efforts.

Jimmy Joliet has set up a page where financial donations may be made via PayPal.  He has also posted Facebook pages for the men so they can see what people are saying and keep the community up to speed on their recovery.

Joliet said a Henagar police officer is putting out donation jars.  Right now there is one at the Fred's store where they were shot, but they hope to put up more.
