Mickey Haddock elected as Florence mayor

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Mickey Haddock was elected as mayor of Florence with over 50 percent of the vote.

He defeated his opponent, Rick Singleton. Current Mayor Bobby Irons did not seek reelection.

Haddock received 50.52 percent, a total of 3,763 votes. Singleton received 3,367 votes; Billy Simpson received 191, and Johnny Hargett received 128.

"It's very exciting with all that had work," said Haddock. "We felt like we ran a very good campaign & we did with all that hard work we had a lot of hard people working, a lot of people working hard for us, and for it all to come together with a victory tonight it's very exciting I'm really excited about the opportunity."

Haddock is a former Florence Firefighter and member or the Alabama National Guard. He is a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a resident of the city of Florence for the past 20 years. He attended Central High School, Northwest-Shoals Community College, and Faulkner University. He is married to Linda Salyer, and has two sons, Chris and Heath; two daughter-in-laws, Suzi and Beth; and three grandchildren, Skylar, Kiah, and Chloe; all residents of Florence.

Haddock will take office the first Monday in November.
