BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jacksonville State senior outside hitter Kelsey Anderson has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her stellar play in this past weekend's ISTAP Collegiate Cup hosted by Alabama State.
Anderson was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament after leading the Gamecocks to a perfect 4-0 record. She also recorded three double-doubles on the weekend.
The Louisville, Ky. native and Alabama transfer recorded 45 kills for an average of 2.81 kills per set on a .314 hitting percentage. She also finished second on the team with 41 digs for an average of 2.56 digs per set to go with 10 aces.
In the Gamecocks' opening 3-2 victory against Stetson she recorded 13 kills and 14 digs. She followed that up with 12 kills and 11 digs as JSU swept Southeastern Louisiana. After dropping the first two sets against South Dakota, she helped lead the Gamecocks back in dramatic fashion as she recorded 12 kills and 11 digs in JSU's 3-2 comeback. In the tournament finale against host school Alabama State she posted eight kills, five digs and two service aces.
The Gamecocks will hit the road again this week in the Auburn Invitational. JSU will play Georgia State on Friday at 10 a.m. and then High Point at 4:30 p.m. It will close the tournament out against host school Auburn on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
