HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Madison County.
HEMSI and State Troopers responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m. on Bishop Road and Old Monrovia. A 2008 Nissan Altima struck a pedestrian.
33-year-old Donna Preston died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Deonta Davis was trapped, and crews had to extricate him from the car. HEMSI transported him to Huntsville Hospital. He is in critical condition in the neuro intensive care unit.
Portions of Old Monrovia Road were blocked off for almost four hours as crews worked.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the wreck.
