HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
She's known as the "First Lady of Boxing," the woman who was able to
"make it big," in a world dominated by men.
"I think they thought I might have some words of wisdom for other women
who are tackling the daily problems women have in a man's world," explained
Jackie Kallen.
It comes as no surprise that her words of wisdom packed the house at Bob
Jones auditorium, a crowd of both women and men, as Team Redstone celebrated
Women's Equality Day.
"It's just about showing what women do in the military is important and
bringing out what they can achieve," said Redstone Arsenal Equal Opportunity
Advisor Jason Cundiff.
Her advice to be fearless, to ask for what you want in life, and not to let
others see you sweat, really hit home to just about everyone.
"The military is one of the areas that seem to be making great advances
in equality," said Kallen.
Those advances, she says, are a wonderful example to the rest of the world.
