Women honored at WHW event

The Women Honoring Women Event Co-Chairs Beth Brooks and Marianne Windham presented the following six outstanding women of the community to be honored in their respective categories:

1. Arts and Humanities: Reverend Sherry Birmey, Pastor - Grateful Life Community Church for Homeless and Chronically Poor

2. Business and Professional: Cathy Anderson, President/CEO - Woody Anderson Ford/Southern Hospitality Group

3. Community and Public Service: Leigh Christian, Sales/Business Development - Amtec Corp.

4. Education: Dr. Avis B. Williams, Retired Principal - Huntsville City Schools

5. Health and Human Services: Dr. Marcia J. Chesero, Chair Department of Family Medicine - UAB School of Medicine, Huntsville Campus

6. Technology: Dr. Y.C.L. Susan Wu, Founder and Chairman - ERC, Inc.

    Huntsville Hospital’s plan for a new multi-story bed tower to meet growing patient demand has been approved by the Alabama Certificate of Need Review Board.  The $150 million West Bed Tower project should begin rising along Gallatin Street in early 2019. Construction is expected to take about two years.  The new tower will have 72 private patient rooms and 24 operating rooms, plus shelled-in space for future needs.     A 2017 black Chevrolet Camaro was stolen from Champion Dodge of Decatur sometime between the hours of 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night and 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
