HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Dynetics officials announced today the company will not open a proposed test facility in the Jackson County location known as Pinhook Hollow.
Officials said the decision was based in part on the concerns of several citizens about the operation in their community.
Some residents were concerned the proposed test facility would affect
their quiet way of life, including loss of home values, health concerns,
and cause people to not want to move to the area.
"Most of the concerns we heard were based on
misconceptions and inaccurate information," said David King, Dynetics Executive Vice President. "Dynetics
was committed to ensuring the safety of the residents and the environment;
however, the potential impact on surrounding property values could not be
predicted."
Based in Huntsville, Dynetics provides services to government and commercial customers in the areas of intelligence, missiles, aviation, cyber and space.
