MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
State troopers responded to an accident on Interstate 65 North at the Cullman and Morgan County line sometime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
A tractor trailer carrying 42,000 pounds of steel coil and a car were involved in the wreck near mile marker 316.
A vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler leaving traffic at a stand still for nearly two hours.
Witnesses said the car in the southbound lane jumped the median and ended up in the northbound lane.
Troopers said 31-year-old Shawn Mertz of Madison was taken to Huntsville Hospital after being cut out of the vehicle. Hospital officials say he's in good condition.
