Walgreens call center expansion will bring hundreds of jobs

MUSLCE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -

An expansion of the Walgreens customer care center in Muscle Shoals will add 350 jobs over the next two years.

Walgreens built a call center operation in 2004 at Southgate Mall. The facility processes customers' prescriptions and sends them to pharmacies, where they are filled.

In addition to the new jobs, the company plans to make a $3.8-million investment into expanding the current facility.

Lawmakers said the new jobs will impact people beyond Colbert and Lauderdale Counties.

"Anytime you can put people to work in the employment sector, it's a good thing. Walgreens has been a great partner since 2004 and I think they're going to be even better in the years ahead," said Muscle Shoals Mayor David Bradford.

Walgreens has nearly 250 workers at the site now.
