A disturbing piece of video recently surfaced that appeared to show a woman using a stun gun to discipline her child in front of the Madison County Courthouse. But what was even more disturbing was the attitude and actions of the man who shot the video. Instead of using his phone to call 911, he continues to let its camera roll, bragging to another man that his only plan is to post it to YouTube. It reminded me of a famous line from the 1953 classic movie "Shane," where Alan Ladd tells Jean Arthur that a gun is just a tool, and like any other tool, it's as good or as bad as the man using it. The same can be said for the internet. It can do a lot of wonderful things, but as this video sadly shows, it can also drastically pervert a person's priorities. I would like to think that most of us would have done the right thing and contacted the police. But apparently there are some people out there who put the quest for online attention ahead of the welfare of a child. I'm Vanessa Oubre and that's my take. What's yours?
