BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama is not one of the swing states considered crucial in the presidential race, but the Republican presidential hopeful is getting ready for a stop in Birmingham today.
It has been a big week for Mitt Romney, who announced his running mate this week and just wrapped up a multi-city bus tour. It is also becoming a critical time in the presidential race, which is now about 80 days away.
So far, Romney has led the money race, pulling in millions of dollars more than President Barack Obama. Today's fundraiser at "The Club" will only help him raise more money.
If elected in November, Romney pledges to create 12-million new jobs and bring better take-home pay to the middle class. Supporters can expect to hear about that today and the Republican candidate will challenge the president's intentions. On the campaign trail yesterday, he accused President Obama of running an angry and desperate campaign.
"For the first time, most Americans believe that our best days are behind us. This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead but you don't hear any answer coming from President Obama's re-election campaign, that's because he is intellectually exhausted, out of ideas and out of energy," said Romney.
Tickets to meet and support the Massachusetts Governor during his stop here in town start at $1,000. Tickets for a private dinner start at $25,000.
