FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
A Shoals couple was arrested after police say they were smoking marijuana near the woman's 1-year-old daughter.
Officers were called to a home on Glen Mary Drive for a possible fight. When they arrived, they smelled a strong scent of marijuana. Police said 22-year-old Jessica Ozella Peeden and 23-year-old Daniel Chad Nichols were lying on a bed with Peeden's baby.
Officers could smell burnt marijuana and found the drug under the couch and prescription pills on the table.
Nichols was charged with second degree possession of marijuana and giving false information to obstruct justice, according to police.
Peeden was charged with chemical endangerment of a child and second degree possession.
