HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police are investigating a shooting near Newson Road that happened early Saturday night.
Officers responded to the shooting at the Winter Park Apartments on Newson Road in Huntsville around 6:45 p.m.
Police said 38-year-old Heriberto Lopez-Dearcia was shot and taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Witnesses said the Lopez-Dearcia was an innocent bystander.
No suspect has been named and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Huntsville Police at 256-722-7100.
